Every school has its advantages and weaknesses. The Gazette, using data from the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights, has organized each local non-charter public school by five criteria.
• How much of the student body serves out-of-school (OSS) and in-school (ISS) suspensions
• The number of students retained (RET) by repeating a grade
• The percentage of students who qualify for Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) programs
• An overall (OVR) grade, a cumulative score based on the previous four categories.
In the table below, a lighter circle means the school is better off, and vice versa. To reassemble the rankings, click on any of the five categories. And to learn more about a specific school, click on its name for a customized page.
